Born in Porto Alegre, Patricia Furlong develops investigative artistic practice on
forms of perception and construction of meaning based on the relationships between space, landscape and memory. Through painting, collage and photography, his research redefines central elements in urban everyday life and explores the landscape as a sensitive experience and field of
symbolic elaboration. He participated in exhibitions in Brazil and abroad, including MAM/SP,
Maria Antonia Center, Havana Biennial and Fujita Vente

Museum, in Tokyo.

The paintings in the series “Grisaille” and” Earth” use the natural landscape as reality
permeated with symbolic filters. Nature as an image loaded with meanings.
In “Grisaille” I returned to the theme of the garden (my reference is the garden where the
my studio).
Keeping in mind that the ancient concept of a garden is to be safe from wild nature and
to be, instead, a space for contemplation and study, in this series of paintings he mirrors the
its reverse: what is to come, or what has already been.

They are dreamlike landscapes, where beauty lies in the stillness of waiting.
In the work “Earth” the shadows observed in the studio garden explode with energy, heat and
