São Paulo, Brasil
23/11/2013 - 18/12/2013

A pioneer of graphic design in Brazil, Alexandre Wollner, who celebrates 60 years of his career, will be honored at Dan Galeria with the exhibition Série constelações – recent works by Alexandre Wollner, where the most recent works of the artist who, at age 85, will be exhibited innovating design aesthetics and function.

Constellations and Formulation are the two series presented at Dan Galeria, which express the points of contact between artist and designer. Conceived in paintings, the works dated 1956 have now been digitally recreated as an artist’s interest in the possibilities of overlapping colors that digital printing offers. Like other constructivist works, these works are composed of progressions and show an organic rather than mechanical relationship between different triangular and digital shapes.

On the opening day of the exhibition, Dan Galeria also launches the book Concretos Parallels: British Constructivism, Concretism and Brazilian Neoconcretism, based on the exhibition held last year in partnership with Cultura Inglesa, which established a parallel between concrete and Constructivists in Brazil and England between the 1950s and 1970s. The exhibition Concretos Paralelos, which took place simultaneously at Dan Galeria and the Centro Brasileiro Britânico, headquarters of Cultura Inglesa and the British Council in São Paulo, had Wollner as one of its main highlights and featured works by artists such as Geraldo de Barros, Hércules Barsotti, Lygia Clark, Sergio Camargo, among other great names, whose works are reproduced in the book.
