Granato em seu atelier

Dan Galeria proudly announces the representation of the work of artist Ivald Granato. With five decades of artistic career, as a painter, draftsman, printmaker, sculptor and performer, Ivald Granato actively participated in all the avant-garde movements of his generation. Granato entered the Escola de Belas Artes in Rio very early and soon caught the attention of critics who highlighted the strength of color and lines in his works. While still a student, he joined Gilberto Chateaubriand's collection at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio (MAM-RJ), a great enthusiast of his work. “A prolific and multifaceted artist producing obsessively and with the concern of making art available to everyone”, wrote Chateaubriand about Granato.

Granato left us suddenly in 2016, aged 66. Since then, his family has taken great care of his legacy and the “Ivald Granato Collection” was created, which brings together his work, memories and history. An important retrospective “My Name is – Ivald Granato – Eu Sou” was held by Sesc São Paulo in 2019, curated by Daniel Rangel. In the same year, the Arte 1 channel launched the documentary “Granato 70”, with a great interview with the artist illustrated by his works, photographs and videos, directed by Rogério Gallo.

Some of the artist's works will be present at stand C2 at SP-Arte 2021!
