On December 3, 2020, the solo exhibition by José Manuel Ballester, represented artist by Dan Galeria Contemporânea, opened at the Guggenheim Bilbao Museum. The photos of the uninhabited Bilbao establish a dialogue with Ballester’s reinterpretation of Picasso’s “Guernica”, from the “Espacios Ocultos” series, and that has been recently acquired by the museum and is now part of it’s permanent collection. The exhibition runs until February 21, 2021, and also takes place online at the museum’s website.
“The human absence on the street created unusual images of roads, avenues and squares completely empty, but the most worrying thing was to know that all the inhabitants were there, that they were just a few meters from me, protected between the walls of their houses”.
