Denise Milan's “Earth Feast” at the Art Mill

“Earth’s Banquet” brings nature’s power to the table at the Art Mill. Installation by artist Denise Milan, curated by Marcello Dantas, is new in the Botanical Artistic Park and has won the honor of being the opening performance on the September 18th of 2021. A telluric feast, resulting from millions of years of earth’s formation, it invites us to contemplate our origins. It is for this meal that the São Paulo artist Denise Milan has produced the work “Earth’s Banquet “, which anchors a definitive residence in the Botanical Artistic Park of the Art Mill, in Água Preta, in the South Forest of Pernambuco. To complete the inauguration of The Earth’s Banquet at the Art Mill, on September 18th, at 4:16 pm, the artist Denise Milan presents a performance of her poem Petrafagia (textual embryo of the work) and the dialogues provoked by the installation in the context of the temporal space in which it is now placed. Surrounded by telluric vapors, the artist stirs a broth of sugary magma in the mouth of the volcano. When the broth crystallizes, and the food is ready, she leaves the depths of the Earth to, in a ritualistic offering, take it to the banquet. Curated by Marcello Dantas, who integrated the sugar crystal in this process, with a crystal-clear collaboration of Ricardo Pessoa Queiroz and Bruna Simões Pessoa de Queiroz, we had the volcanic direction of Ulisses Cohn, telluric sound design by Flávio Cohn, sugary alchemy by Cecília Chaves, fairy costume by Gloria Coelho, molecular gestural preparation by Mônica Monteiro and magmatic support by the teams of Usina de Arte), DMP and Dan Galeria.
